About

Meditation for Kids is an interactive, immersive, experiential meditation program, hosted in the Toronto, Annex at 509 Bloor St.

 

By incorporating art, music, games and stories Emzy introduces meditation to people of all ages! She developed Meditation for Kids (ages 6-12),  Meditation for Tots (ages 2 - 5), Meditation for Teens (ages 13 - 17), Meditation for the Young at Heart (ages 18+), and even Meditation for babies (ages 0-2).

 

Emily Curran, aka Emzy Shadows is an artist, musician, long time meditation practitioner and meditation teacher. She has been meditating for the last 12 years studying Tibetan Buddhist meditation and mindfulness based meditation practices. She developed the Meditation for Kids program based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction curriculum and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's Joy of Living Program as well as many other sources from children's books to yoga classes to online parenting courses. She completed the 10 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Foundations course and two 5-6 day silent retreats. In addition she has completed the Joy of Living three level program and has been a practice leader for Tergar Toronto for 10 years.

Meditation has so many benefits. It has allowed Emzy to empower herself in moments when she needed strength to speak up and has allowed her to know when it is time to sit back and accept things as they are. Meditation has taught her to befriend challenging emotions and work with them in a way that cultivates a sense of self worth and growth from challenging times. Meditation has allowed Emzy to be honest with herself about the world she experiences and her physical sensations and thoughts. Meditation has allowed her to respond and not react in difficult situations. These are only some of the potential benefits of having meditation in your life!
